Coming polls will shape Bihar future, says Chirag Paswan at rally

Jamui, June 30 – In a high-energy address to supporters in Jamui, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan said the upcoming Lok Sabha elections will be a turning point for Bihar’s political and developmental future. Speaking to a large gathering, Paswan emphasized that the time had come for voters to choose progress over promises and action over alliances.
“The elections ahead are not ordinary—they will decide whether Bihar continues to struggle or finally finds its rightful place on the path of growth and respect,” Paswan said, rallying his supporters with the slogan “Bihar First, Bihari First.”
A Call to the Youth and First-Time Voters
Paswan placed strong emphasis on youth participation, urging young Biharis to take charge of their state’s direction. “This election belongs to the youth. It’s your vote, your future. Don’t let it be stolen by leaders who remember you only during elections,” he said.
Highlighting unemployment and migration as key concerns, Paswan promised to establish district-level skill training centers, promote entrepreneurship, and advocate for industrial investments in the state. “Why should a young man from Begusarai or Gaya have to go to Delhi or Mumbai to earn a living?” he asked. “We must create those opportunities right here.”
His remarks drew cheers from the crowd, many of whom were students and first-time voters seeking change and employment opportunities closer to home.
Criticism of Traditional Parties
Without naming specific political leaders, Paswan launched a strong critique of both the ruling coalition in the state and opposition parties at the national level. “For years, Bihar has been stuck in the same cycle—false promises, crumbling roads, poor education, and the same old names. But nothing has truly changed,” he said.
Paswan accused these parties of focusing only on caste politics and seat-sharing arithmetic while ignoring issues that truly matter—like development, healthcare, education, and job creation. “They remember the poor only during elections. I want to serve you not for votes, but because I believe Bihar deserves better,” he added.
Ram Vilas Paswan’s Legacy and Political Journey
Chirag Paswan has increasingly invoked the legacy of his late father, Ram Vilas Paswan, a towering figure in Indian politics known for his social justice advocacy and ministerial experience across governments. “My father always believed in service and inclusion. I want to carry that vision forward with honesty and modern thinking,” Chirag said.
Since the LJP split in 2020, Chirag has carved out an independent identity with his faction—Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas)—focusing on youth-oriented and development-centric politics. Though his party won just one seat in the last assembly elections, his stature has grown, particularly among Dalit and young voters disillusioned with traditional parties.
Strong Indications of Alliance with BJP
Though he avoided making any formal announcement, Paswan dropped multiple hints about his likely alliance with the BJP for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. “I will stand with those who respect Bihar’s demands and support our development agenda,” he said when asked about political partnerships.
Sources within the party indicate ongoing discussions about seat-sharing within the NDA framework. Chirag is reportedly seeking a greater number of constituencies this time, especially in regions where he has growing influence.
Paswan’s rapport with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his alignment with the BJP’s development narrative have positioned him as a valuable ally, especially in constituencies with young and Dalit voters.
Focus on Marginalized Communities
Paswan also emphasized the need to uplift marginalized communities in Bihar, including Scheduled Castes, women, and minorities. He criticized existing welfare schemes as inadequate and promised more targeted initiatives if voted to power.
“Tokenism will not solve our problems. We need structured reforms—better schools, functioning health centers, safer streets, and equal access to opportunities,” he said. His party, he claimed, would ensure representation and dignity for all.
He further pledged to bring policies that would ensure land rights, housing security, and quality education for families that have been historically ignored.
Rally Draws Large, Energetic Crowd
The Jamui rally saw a massive turnout, with supporters waving party flags and chanting slogans. Paswan’s speech struck a chord with the gathering, many of whom said they were tired of traditional politics and wanted a fresh, youth-centric approach.
“He speaks what we feel. Bihar is behind because our leaders didn’t care. Chirag is young and understands us,” said Ramesh Kumar, a shopkeeper from Lakhisarai.
Another attendee, a student named Priya Kumari, echoed similar views. “He talks about jobs, education, and skill training. That’s what we want,” she said, holding a placard that read “Nayi Soch, Naya Bihar.”
Looking Ahead: High-Stakes Election Battle
With the 2025 Lok Sabha elections approaching, Bihar is once again becoming a key battleground. The political landscape is rapidly shifting, and leaders like Chirag Paswan are expected to play crucial roles in determining the final outcome.
Analysts believe that while Paswan may not emerge as a dominant force on his own, his ability to swing votes in certain constituencies—especially among Dalits, youth, and urban voters—makes him a significant player in the months ahead.
As Bihar stands at a political crossroads, Chirag Paswan’s call for transformation and his energetic push for youth leadership could mark the beginning of a new chapter in the state’s complex political story.
