Today in Politics: Rahul to join Kanhaiya’s yatra in Bihar; Amit Shah to hold high-level security review meet in Srinagar

India’s Political Scene Heats Up as Elections Approach

New Delhi, April 7 – As the general elections draw near, political activity has intensified across India. Rahul Gandhi took to the streets in Bihar alongside youth leader Kanhaiya Kumar, Amit Shah assessed the security situation in Jammu & Kashmir, and the BJP in Karnataka launched a statewide campaign addressing inflation and reservations.

Rahul Gandhi Joins Youth March in Bihar

In Begusarai, Rahul Gandhi walked with Kanhaiya Kumar as part of the “Palayan Roko, Naukri Do” yatra, a youth-driven initiative pushing for job opportunities and discouraging migration from Bihar.

In a video posted on social media, Gandhi invited the state’s youth to stand together. “Let’s walk as one and show your strength to the world,” he urged.

He asked participants to wear white t-shirts—a gesture symbolizing unity. Gandhi encouraged them to demand answers from those in power and fight for their future.

This event forms part of the broader White T-Shirt Movement, which champions youth-led change. Gandhi’s message focused on transforming Bihar into a place where young people thrive.

Kanhaiya Kumar, a former student leader from JNU and a native of Begusarai, is spearheading the march. His alignment with Gandhi highlights Congress’ intention to energize and attract younger voters.

Amit Shah Assesses Jammu & Kashmir Security

Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Jammu & Kashmir a day early to coincide with BJP’s Foundation Day. On Monday, he led a security briefing in Srinagar with senior intelligence officers and regional administrators.

The meeting addressed current threats, law enforcement preparedness, and development updates. Shah also plans to inspect infrastructure along the International Border in Kathua and meet security personnel stationed there.

During his visit, Shah met with key BJP figures including Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, MPs Jugal Kishore Sharma and Ghulam Ali Khatana, as well as senior regional leaders. His visit underscores the BJP’s focus on national security and development in a region that continues to play a critical role in their electoral strategy.

Karnataka BJP Launches Anti-Inflation Campaign

The BJP launched its 16-day Janaakrosha Yatra in Karnataka on Monday, taking aim at inflation and controversial reservation policies implemented by the Congress-led state government.

BJP leader R. Ashoka criticized rising prices and said the government’s actions were burdening common people. “Citizens are suffering, and this yatra will give them a voice,” he said at a press event.

Ashoka also condemned the move to reserve 4% of government contracts for Muslims, labeling it as politically motivated and divisive.

The yatra will unfold in four stages. The first phase covers districts like Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, and Udupi. Later stages will expand across northern, central, and eastern Karnataka, finishing in Bengaluru.

According to BJP leaders, this campaign aims to rebuild public support and refocus the conversation on everyday concerns like rising costs and employment opportunities.

Political Momentum Builds Across India

These high-profile movements reflect the intensifying battle lines in the lead-up to the election. Gandhi’s march places youth and unemployment at the center of Congress’ narrative, while Shah’s J&K visit reinforces BJP’s national security priorities. Meanwhile, Karnataka’s BJP is sharpening its attack on the Congress-led administration by highlighting economic issues and reservation policies.

With rallies, yatras, and public outreach picking up pace, the next few weeks will see increased action on the ground. Political parties are now fully engaged in a race to influence public opinion and secure victory in the upcoming polls.
